vCloud usage meter failing to obtain data from vCenter server

Hi All

 

I have vCloud usage meter 3.2 deployed in our environment and it has been configured to monitor vCenter server 5.0 and 4.1. Since last few days this vCloud appliance is unable to contact one of my vCenter server and kept failing with below errors:

Can someone guide me how to start troubleshooting. I don't have much idea of how vCloud works and also Google and vmware kb are not helping much.

Unable to download vCloud Usage Meter anymore

We are having problems with downloading the vCloud Usage Meter from the download link.

 

After My VMware has gone live, we cannot get access anymore... Greeeeeeeat...

Postgres using 99% CPU

Hi,

I have vcu 3.3.2, running fine for several weeks.

It s been a week that vcu is at 100% CPU due to postgres :

No network issue, disk usage is good, data collecting is still occuring (i can check the monitor tab)

but I can't view any report nor got the automatic report emailed.

 

When I try to generate a report it automatically cancel it :

Starting report “Monthly Usage.”

Production of the Monthly Usage was canceled.

 

 

I try to delete old data but it looks like it never did something. One hour later, I rebooted the appliance and still got Postgres loading vcu appliance.

 

Can you advise me ?

Hello ,

 

Can vCloud Usage Meter provide report of  vCpu  , vRam  &  Storage Consumption  on monthly basics for each individual  vCloud Workload (Virtual Machine )  ?

I am looking for   Monthly report of  vCpu/ RAM & Storage  utilization by each  Individual vCloud  Director   Virtual Machine

Can vCloud usage meter fulfill  this requirement

Hello,

 

In the documentation it says that the billing occurs from the reserved memory for each vm. If I am using no reservations in any of my vms, does it calculate based on how much ram I have assigned in each vm?

Query on Customer usage on a VMs

Hi Team,

 

I need assistance on the following queries

We are trying to check the feasibility of using VCloud usage meter but we are not able to understand how we can achieve following things

 

1) Customer X has been provided access to VM Cloud machine. some ip address machine.

2) I need to know how to configure this Customer X usage in vCloud usage meter on VM A. ITs not allowing me check the particular users usage on each VM? I mean I want to understand how this Customer X used the VM and charge him accordingly for his usage.

Like wise I have many users using the VMs.

Billing categories and license sets in UM 3.4 Beta

I have a hard time figuring out billing categories and license sets in UM. Please help

 

I'm running UM 3.4 Beta in my lab. The lab consists of two vCenter servers, vc01 and vc02. I have on ESXi host connected to vc01. This host is licensed with vSphere for desktop.

vc02 have five ESXi hots connected, they are all licensed with vSphere 5 Ent Plus. I've attached some screenshots of my UM.

 

Under billing Category in UM I set the vSphere for Desktop license to Perpetual and the Enterprise Plus license to VSPP.

I then created a License set named TEST where I only included the Enterprise Plus license.

 

Running a Customer Summary report without specifying a License set gives me a Billed vRAM (GB-Hours) of 14,734. Going back and choosing License set TEST

and running the same report gives me a Billed vRAM (GB-Hours) of 20,819.

 

Why is the second report reporting more billed vRAM then the first?

  1. Is there a way that we can assign $ values to vCPU and vMem per GHz and GB?
  2. Can we report usage per min?

vCloud Usage Meter - Collection failed

Hi,

 

Something odd going on with our UM 3.1. Collection was working until a few days ago, where after the 7am one it failed and has failed ever since, complaining it can't login due to bad username/password. The user is a domain account, the password is correct (even reset it to the same one), however if the Web interface, if I try to edit it, under Products (vCenter Server), I get the same error. I deleted it from there but now can't add it since I get the same error:

 

"could not connect to the vCenter Server: IPADDRESS; com.vmware.vim25.InvalidLoginFaultMsg: Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password."

 

Tried creating a new service account in the same OU in AD and add it to the web interface but get the same error. Both accounts are present in the UM's Permissions in vCenter, with Read-Only access.

 

vCenter's Events show "cannot login domain\account@IP" (different IP, this one is for the VM, not the vCenter as the one above).

 

LDAP settings in the Web interface are blank, as was the case.

 

No changes were made to the server or VM in between 7am and 8am when this first started.

 

Hoping someone's seen this before and can help, I've ran out of ideas.

Collection of vCAC 6 and vROM 6 not possible

Hi,

 

The vCenter connection works. But the vROM is not identified.

 

No vCAC Objects are collected.

 

Has anyone a working environment like this?

Dear all,

I've installed the Usage Meter 3.3.3

I've proceed (usign the vmware tool /opt/vmware/share/vami/vami_config_net) the configuration of secondary DNS and hostname.

I've restarted the tomcat to "save" the information just updated BUT, after a reboot the hostname revert back to the orginal "localhost.localdomain".

Can someone help me ?

How to delete vCenter server certificate from vCloud Usage Meter

Hi Folks,

 

I am facing an issue with stats collection for one of my vcenter server in usage meter.

 

The collection fails with error:

 

On the Usage Meter at (x.x.x.x), a collection from vchostname.abc.com begun at 2015-04-28 05:11:54, failed at 2015-04-28 05:12:03. The host certificate doesn't match the certificate you accepted. Please edit the server on the Manage Page Products Tab.

 

Anyone have idea about how to delete the vCenter SSL certificate from usage meter so that next time when usage meter polls to vCenter server it accepts a new ssl certificate.

 

PS: we are only using self-signed certificates on our vcenter server.

 

vCenter Version: 5.0

If not, how should we handle if Service Provider have multiple sites/zone with no interconnect.

How to add Mirage to vCloud Usage Meter

Hi,

 

I want to add a VSPP license from Mirage to the vCloud Usage Meter.

I installed version 3.3.2 and the Beta 3.4 -> both had no product section for Mirage. Only Horizon Data which was not able to work (what i expected )

 

Anyone who had success with Mirage? The release notes tell me since version 3.1 that Mirage is supported...

Cloud Usage Meter - Unable to submit to VSSPP Portal - Error 404

Hello,

 

We are using Cloud Usage Meter 3.3.0.0 build 167943 and we have vCenter 5.1 and 5.5 under monitor.

 

Submitting reports to VSSP portal never worked for us; each time we try we have this error :

 

  • There was an error submitting the License Summary report to the VSPP Business Portal: Unexpected response received: 404, Not Found,

 

We have the same for all type of reports (Licence, bundled, detailled , etc...).

 

Does anyone have an idea ?

 

We tried to analyze the log report but we don't have more explanation.

How to exclude VM's from automatic reports

Hi everybody,

 

We are currently using vCloud Usage Meter 2.3.2.1 Update 8.

So far we don't work with customers and rules, because all the VM's are used by  ourselfes.

We are using the automatic reporting feature which is working great so far and configured it to send the Detailled Billing Report.

 

Now in this report also our Test-VM's and other non-productive VM's are integrated and we would like to exclude them from the automatic reporting.

How can we do this?

 

I'm looking forward for any help.

Create rules to isolate VM

Hello all

 

I want to know if someone create rules to extract or isolate some lab VM or ESXi hosts from the monthly Usage Meter report.

In fact, when you used the vCAN program, you could used less than 100GB of RAM for labs.

 

In my case, I have a dedicated ESXi host with 12 GB of RAM which will be used only for that.

How can y create rules for not send information about the VM executed on this Lab ESXi.

 

I used the 3.3.2 Usage Meter version.
